What you'll learn

Ground School

Aerodynamics, weather, navigation, regulations, and aircraft systems

Pre-Flight Operations

Aircraft inspection, weight & balance, flight planning

Basic Maneuvers

Climbs, descents, turns, slow flight, and stalls

Takeoffs & Landings

Normal, crosswind, and short/soft field operations

Navigation

Pilotage, dead reckoning, VOR, and GPS navigation

Emergency Procedures

Prerequisites

Requirements

  • Be at least 17 years old
  • Read, speak, and understand English
  • Hold at least a 3rd class medical certificate
  • Pass the FAA written knowledge test
  • Complete required flight training
